Occupied Solidarity Stand – Monday Oct 17th @ 10PM – JOIN US!

We’ve peacefully assembled in Troy Davis Park (formerly Woodruff Park) for over a week now, to petition the government for a redress of grievances. In this time we’ve seen a tremendous outpouring of support and encouragement from the local community as well as from people abroad. Now, just one day after the dedication ceremony for the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial in Washington, DC, Mayor Kasim Reed wants to see us gone. His office has announced an Occupation deadline, and is set to forcefully evict us on Monday October 17th at 11pm. We need your help! Please join us in solidarity, to send a message to the state of Georgia, the nation, and the world, that we WILL NOT leave; WE WILL OCCUPY! The Atlanta North Georgia Labor Council voted unanimously to mobilize in support of continuing Occupation. Our Occupation is an act of civil disobedience. It is very much in line with the history of principled protest which includes Mahatma Ghandi and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and is such a rich part of Atlanta’s history. Please join your voice to ours!

In response to complaints about noise, the Occupy Atlanta General Assembly reached consensus to keep quiet hours after 11 pm, except in emergencies such as the threat of imminent arrest. The General Assembly also decided to take measures to soften the impact of their presence on the grass and other features of the park.
