If there aren\'t any vacancies, we might be able to borrow a tent from PnP or Glen Iris?2. \"Do you have spare blankets?\"There are some blankets, but you might want to bring your own, if you have any to spare. Also, If you have any spare cardboard, that is also helpful (for insulation / cushioning on the sidewalk). I\'d recommend that you layer clothing and wear a cap -- you can pull this over your eyes and ears for some helpful sensory deprivation, which is what I do, though this makes one vulnerable to potential intruders.3. \"Is it noisy?\"Not gonna lie: it is noisy on some nights. Cars and sirens might wake you up, and occupiers can keep discussions going late into the night. I had some trouble dealing with this until I decided to use earplugs (good) or headphones (even better). If you have a radio, tune it to an unused frequency for the white noise. If you have a digital audio player or cellphone that plays MP3s, you can use this 5-minute noise loop I created (it\'s just white noise through a lowpass filter, which is much more soothing, in my opinion):http://socialismsocialismsocialism.org/occupy/white_noise.mp3Again, this can also drown out noises that you might WANT to hear, so use this with caution.4. \"Are there any restrooms?\"Anatolia is usually open late, and they don\'t mind if I use their restroom, though I\'ll buy a beer or water from time to time, so that I have a familiar face. I believe there\'s also a 24-hour Waffle House by Underground. And there are always some empty, unattended alleyways (use caution).5. \"How can I mitigate those risks you mentioned?\"There\'s safety in numbers, so, as the occupation grows, we can hopefully keep a watch over the tents in shifts. You might want to obtain a luggage lock for your tent zippers. Obviously, this wouldn\'t protect against a determined attacker (e.g., one with a knife), but it secures you against crimes of opportunity, or at least give you (and everyone else) a chance to respond.6. \"Will I wake up in jail?\"We\'ve been doing this since 12/3, so it seems unlikely that the police would arrest all 10-20 of us without a warning. Each night, we move the tents to the sidewalk around 11:00pm, though generally some are in the park past 11pm without incident. One of us sets an alarm for 6:00am and issues a wake-up call (a wake-up mic check), so that we can move the tents before we\'re hassled by ambassadors or cops.It\'s not as convenient as a night at home, sure, but our statement generally gets a very supportive response from pedestrians and drivers (though there are some haters as well).It\'s not quite as convenient as sleeping with a roof over your head, sure, but with some adaptations I\'ve slept fairly soundly the past few nights at TDP, and our statement generally gets a very supportive response from pedestrians and drivers (though there are some haters as well). If anyone has any other recommendations or questions, please contribute to this thread!
