Wiktionary.org will be the standard dictionary for arbitrating the meaning of words within Occupy Atlanta unless an explicit definition has been formally adopted for a specific situation. Should any concern arrise about malicious editing of a current wiktionary definition then an acceptable previous definition from wiktionary or -failing agreement upon that- the Dictionary.com definition will be used.

This proposal exists for the sake of eliminating or at least reducing redundancy and friction over word usage in Occupy Atlanta. Do we really need to argue over a words definition and have a proposal to define a word especially when the last phrase of the adopted definition -it could be argued- pretty much negates the intent of the definition and the proposal the definition was intended to support. GA’s aren’t the place for specious pedants to wax rhapsodic on their diction while innocent bystanders endure. There are plenty of perfectly good well defined words to use and dictionaries are their store houses. Lets use them.

The gist of this proposal was presented to the GA on 2012 Jan 14 with the intent of bringing it before the GA for a vote on 2012 Jan 20. Please offer your concerns and suggestions for improving this proposal here and in person. Ideally when it is presented to the GA everyone will have considered the proposal and offered their best input toward its improvement so that the GA can proceed smoothly and quickly for everyone’s sake.
