TAKE THE POWER BACK! A Southern Company Shareholder’s Action

Wednesday, May 23, 2012
5:00 PM - 6:30 PM

On May 23rd, Southern Company will meet in Callaway Gardens to discuss their business, their profits, made on the backs of ratepayers.

This year alone, Southern Company’s CEO has raked in over $12 million, while his company has lobbied for us residential customers to foot the $8 billion bill for destructive and hazardous nuclear energy, and the costs are still rising!

According to a recent AJC article, the construction is ! But guess what? Georgia Power has a very powerful lobby, and they and their associate at the Georgia legislature and the Public Service Commission were thoughtful enough to pass that $400 million bill onto you!

This is a company where less than 1% of its power comes from renewable energy sources.
A company that is the largest polluter nationwide.
A company that operates the 3 largest polluting plants in the country, the two biggest both here in Georgia!
A company that buys the most coal nationwide grabbed by exploding whole mountains, yet drags its feet investigating solar, wind, and other clean energies.
A company that spent $14 million a year for the last 3 years to fight federal renewable energy legislation!
A company that invests in HEALTH RISK energy for communities all around Georgia, a result of which being 600 Georgians die a premature death every year!

WE DEMAND CHANGE FROM SOUTHERN COMPANY! Better Decisions For a Better Georgia!

Join us, May 23rd at 5pm outside the Southern Company Corporate Offices, 30 Ivan Allen Jr Blvd!

POWER TO THE PEOPLE!
