Sara: Have made queries about venues. Wonderroot is in, Lake Claire didn’t offer a space but did offer leads for spaces elsewhere. Tim Franzen is willing to do a Theater of the Oppressed workshop for us, and we also have a ceramics artist wanting to do a workshop. Will follow up with 7 Stages about lobby space for open mics.

Donald Mead

Graphic design and video, also messaging via art. Wants to promote those things.

Mandie: Will talk to Eyedrum and the Big House about holding events there.

Assessment of the “Get Out of Jail Free” benefit:

As morale-booster it was awesome and people want to see more shows. As fundraiser it was a little weak, but great for a two-day lead time. We can fix that with more promotion. Also things were confused staff-wise, promised sound and light techs from C7 did not show up. If we hadn’t arranged backups that would have been a disaster. Not everyone working had staff badges and not everyone who had staff badges was doing needed tasks. This is also fixable with planning, we need a volunteer list and direct contact with anyone working a show and a staff meeting in advance so that everyone knows who is doing what.

Future plans:

More shows including “house parties” which we can promote as a way to get involved. Theater of the Oppressed workshop, follow up about ceramic artist, make plans for open mics. Mandie has an art project she wants to do, there’s also a crossover project with Sustainable Business Models for fund-raising purposes.

Idea for next show is “Occupy Atlanta Vaudeville” to include comedians, dancers, etc. This show will raise money for Arts and Lit for our projects, anything over our budget can go to Legal because they always need money. Need to write up a specific budget, get with SBM.
