Media Meeting Minutes 12-11-11

Location: Peachtree and Pine, 4th floor

1. Sunday’s @ 3pm: Media’s weekly multi-group meeting

2. Following GA’s Media meetings that deal largely in press relations
• Upcoming Workshop: How to put together a Press Release
• Media’s Process was discussed for the purpose of submitting it to the Process Committee. For security reasons, access to press email will be limited to those who write press releases. Anyone who attends the Press Release Workshop will be encouraged to write Press Releases. When a Press Release is written it needs to be checked with at least one other person before Release.

3. Social Media
• Do we want a G+ Page? Yes – shana will get this together.
• FB Group will be transitioning to our FB Page. All threads and participants are encouraged to continue participating in debates on the OA FB Community Page and/or the Committee Threads on the official website. Announcement and countdown to closing will be posted shortly.
• We need a Social Media group for those operating official Occupy Atlanta social media accounts, but it needs an organizer. Shana accepts.

4. Bloggers Connect – Tripp – we need to network with other OA bloggers and the additional 4 occupations sites for updated and communicating with each other by posting news about daily events, arrests, circumstances, etc.
• Could use WordPress – runs with existing site – whatever you choose Shana will help with set up.
• Shana will get the old OA Tumbler account blog site set up for this purpose for Tripp and Megan.

Arts & Literature

5. We discussed the possibility of a nativity scene showcase where the Inn is foreclosed on and the manger scene takes place in an occupy tent (no dialog – pantomime). Complete with choir. “Occupy Christmas”. Sara and Ladie will contact local churches to gauge interest and support.

6. Youtube mini-movie spoof blending “the Grinch” with “A Christmas Carol” and adding a foreclosure twist “The Banks that stole Christmas”

7. Start a tour group that takes people around Atlanta and tells them about the different corrupt banks, business, etc. (ala Haunted Tour just OA style)

8. Occupy Treasure Hunt: send teams to banks, businesses, homes, etc… to places where they hear a story about that location, get the item (lollypop, button, whatever) and go to the next
location.
