Outreach meeting minutes – Monday 12/19

15 + people (Lilly, Daniel, Matt, Khalis, Valentine, Victor, Nadine, Robert, Candy, Scottie, Jonah, Erica, Freddie, Softee, Cailyn)  - Woodruff Park 5:30 PM, 12/19

Matt – Brief Overview. Explanation of outreach history and direction for new people.

Lilly
- Wheat pasting has been great; we will do it again soon
- University Outreach starts again in mid january
Nadine
-community service outreach is going well.
-Created a form for people to use.
-Must be sure that it’s okay for each individual student to use this as CS.
Lilly
- Georgia Perimeter and Georgia State Talks recently
- Set up more university talks soon, if you know of any groups or school organizations that would like a talk, let them know that we can come.
Cailyns
-Craftavists – outreach subcommittee of gorilla outreach
- Yarn art around has been great, will keep it up.
Softee
- Neighborhood infiltration committee.
-Ask people about occupy or talk about occupy
- Go into organizations at schools
Freddie
-Visited abandoned homes, didn’t find any we could occupy
Matt
- Grant Park Talk
- Button Making
- Sign Making
Jonah
-Canvasing, write some stuff up, so we know where to go next.
Khalis
- Music show, spreading the message.

What is outreach going to do next?

1.) Softee - people want to do logos, they just need a recognizable logo to use.  We really don’t have one now.
    Logo ideas
Erica- occupirates, she has a logo drawn up
Jonah – Recycle circle with A in the middle, infinity logo idea
Robert – We need a design by graphic designers, We need to focus on this again for sure.  We won’t be responsible for how it’s used, but we definitely need one.
    Homeless Outreach
Lilly – Living with the homeless; learning from the homeless; listening to the homeless; outreaching to the homeless.
- Not a media stunt.
- Reaching out learning, and hearing stories.
- Meeting about this event will be on Friday. Lilly will let everyone know.
  Neighborhood Infiltration
Softee- Implant yourself in the neighborhoods that you know anyway.
ask people what is going on in ATL in their persepective. Talk about their issues, talk about your own issues with things.  Talk about OA, ask about OA.
Jonah – Get people active.
Cailyn – People sometimes harass occupants, make sure that won’t be a problem.
Softee – Subcommittee of media, outreach, and action.
Button Makers and Yard Signs

Matt- Outreach needs to spend some money.  What better way than yard signs and buttons.
- Yard signs, someone sees Jack on the corner with an Occupy sign.  They work with Jack, their kids go to school with Jack’s kids, and they go to the same church.  Jack’s a cool dude, maybe we should check out Occupy.
-Mankind occupies
- Everyone is in on both ($1000)
- We will make a proposal on Wednesday
Communication Efficiency
Softee – More creative communications methods are needed. Word of mouth, other ideas?
Victor – Cards we can hand out.
Robert – board w days events.
Jonah – Bicycle Courier
Cai – white board.
Khalis – give out all contact info
Valentine – Walkie Talkies
Freddie – contact info available at front desk
Matt – who mans whiteboard and how.
Patches and stickers
Erica- Wants to make patches and stickers, she has equipment.
- Will work with craftavists to get it done.
Proposal

Leila – $40 for screen printer.
Matt – We have a screen printer.  It may be a valid option for now.
Leila and Matt will talk.
