Proposal: Unlike most other states, Georgia does not legally limit gifts from lobbyists to state legislators. This results in elected officials receiving tens of thousands of dollars in “gifts” from corporate interests.. Occupy Atlanta will endorse the proposed $100 limit on gifts from lobbyists. We believe this limit isn’t enough but it is a good start.

My concern is the funding source, which is due to the lack of transparency of MRG.

Endorse it how? Sounds like a terrible idea. If we endorse anything, it should be a statement that says we endorse ending ALL corporate influence on government, not this. If people think endorsing this is a good idea, they’re forgetting what Occupy is about.
I’ll refine the exact statement but I mean to be clear we think all lobbyist gifts should be banned as we passed the corporate influence in politics demand months ago but this is a good start
This isn’t a fix but it is something. By endorse, we say approve of this with the caveat I just described.
For whatever it’s worth, you’ve got my approval. In fact, Occupy should have their own lobbyists and pay nothing to these whores but accomplish your purpose thru perseverance (by bugging the living hell outta them).
Go Occupy!
